Ariana Grande is most famous for her hit songs but her diet and exercise plan is perhaps equally impressive. The Ariana Grande diet and workout routine is based on:

  1. 1. A macrobiotic diet
  2. 2. Plant-based meals
  3. 3. Resistance training and step counting

Check out my guide to Ariana Grande’s food and workout plan to know all her tips and tricks on how to feel your best.

Ariana’s Diet and Workout Philosophy: Do it to Feel Good

Ariana’s lifestyle today looks a lot different than the one she had growing up. As a kid, her Italian heritage had a big influence on her diet. While she ate organic, the basis of her diet was a lot of meat, cheese, and pasta.

However, she moved to a plant-based, vegan diet and 2013 and has stuck to it since. Her reasoning: to feel good and to treat animals with kindness.

She insists that both her diet and workout regimen is all about how she feels, not how skinny she is. She also made the move to express her love for treating animals with kindness.

Moreover, going vegan for Ariana was about both her health and the health of others.

Another influence on her eating habits is the macrobiotic diet.

The macrobiotic diet is a way of eating based on the philosophy of Zen Buddhism. It’s major principles include:

  • Eating mostly plants
  • Eating everything in moderation
  • Overall mindful eating

Overall, eating and exercising for Ariana is about the mental and physical. It’s about her and the planet. And it’s about feelings, not aesthetics.

The Ariana Grande Diet Plan

Although Ariana grew up eating a lot of traditional Italian food, she says she sticks to veggies now. Some may think that veggies aren’t enough to power you through a long day. But, Ariana is able to get through concerts, tours, and TV appearances while only eating plants.

Some of Ariana’s favorite foods include:

  • Japanese cuisine
  • Berries
  • Smoothies
  • Salads
  • Nuts

Breakfast

For breakfast, Ariana likes to eat oatmeal with almond milk and berries. She says that strawberries are her favorite food and that she eats at least 5 of them every single day.

She also is a big fan of breakfast smoothies. Specifically, she likes the smoothies in her personal trainer’s book, Diet Reset. Sometimes she’ll have them for more than just breakfast.

One of her favorites is the “Famous Red Berry Smoothie”. Here’s how you can make it:

  • 1 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1/4 cup frozen blueberries
  • 1/2 orange, peeled
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon ground flaxseeds

Additionally, she’s into both coffee and tea. Specifically, she likes to have one iced coffee per day with almond milk. For tea, both matcha lattes and dandelion root tea are two of her favorites.

Lunch and Dinner

Ariana likes salads and she incorporates a lot of the foods popular in the macrobiotic diet into her lunches and dinners. The most popular foods in the macrobiotic diet include:

  • Whole grain cereals and brown rice
  • Land and sea vegetables
  • Beans and legumes
  • Miso soup

Additionally, she likes to eat popular Japanese foods such as:

  • Daikon root (a white radish)
  • Lotus root (tastes like a sweet celery)
  • Adzuki beans (a popular bean in Asia and the Middle East)

A typical meal for her could include any and all of these foods. Tofu and veggie stir fries with a side of brown rice is a go-to for her.

Snacks

For snacks, Ariana says she likes nuts and cashews especially. Staying hydrated is another important part of her life. She always has a water bottle within reach and opts for coconut water in addition to regular water.

The Ariana Grande Workout Plan

Ariana isn’t the kind of person who lives heavy lifting or high intensity workouts. Rather, she prefers to get most of her exercise through getting at least 12,000 steps per day. Some days she’ll hit a treadmill, but others she will dance, hike, or walk her dogs. Whatever gets her to 12,000 steps she’ll do. Not to mention that performing on stage is a workout in itself!

In addition to walking, Ariana’s secret to a lean, toned body is resistance workouts. Not only are resistance workouts effective, you can do them anywhere with some basic equipment.

According to her trainer, lunges are the secret to Ariana’s toned legs. Some variations of lunges that she does include:

  • Reverse lunges
  • Skater lunges
  • Walking lunges

Lunges are a great workout that target your entire lower body including your legs and glutes plus your core. Not only will you build muscle, but adding lunges to your routine also improves:

  • Balance and stability
  • Posture
  • Body alignment

Other exercises that Grande swears by include:

  • Pike planks
  • Glute bridges
  • Supermans

Similar to her food philosophy, Ariana says that she works out first and foremost to feel good. Not only does moving around make her feel good, it gets her inspired. In fact, she credits many of her creativity in music to times she was walking on the treadmill or hiking.

More of Ariana’s Wellness Tips

The biggest tip Ariana has to give is that balance is key. For her, that means not only making healthy food and exercise a priority but sleep as well.

In a 2017 article, her trainer said, “Your approach to fitness needs to start with movement and eating properly and better sleep”. Getting those habits down consistently should be the first priority for your health.

Also, Grande is a big advocate for having good mental health. For her, eating plant-based, moving every day, and getting enough sleep is the way to being both her happiest and most full of energy.
