There are countless weight loss cook books and online recipes available today. With so many options, it can be tricky to know exactly what works and what doesn’t. To make it easier, I’m sharing the best meals to eat for weight loss.

Each of these meals contains one or more powerful weight loss-stimulating ingredients. These ingredients kick start weight loss by:

If you’re ready to start losing weight today, then add each of these meals to your weekly healthy meal plan!

1. Matcha Green Tea Latte

I know, it technically isn’t a meal. But, matcha green tea is such a powerful weight loss stimulant, so I had to add it to the list.

Matcha has several things going for it in terms of weight loss including:

  • – Increasing body fat burning during exercise
  • – Suppressing food cravings
  • – Boosting resting metabolism

In one particular study, participants taking a matcha green tea supplement burned 17% more percent body fat after a workout than those who didn’t take the supplement.

For your next coffee run, make it a matcha latte! For even better weight loss results, use a plant-based milk rather than a traditional dairy milk.

2. Coffee Protein Shakes

If you’re anything like me, then you love coffee! The way that I drink coffee each morning for weight loss is to mix it into my post-workout protein shake.

Like matcha, coffee is high in caffeine. Caffeine helps suppress your diet and boost your metabolism. With a suppressed appetite, you’re less likely to get hungry mid-day and reach for an unhealthy snack.

When mixed with a high-protein shake, the coffee is even more powerful. Because, eating lots of protein is a must for weight loss.

In case you missed it, here are my most favorite coffee protein shakes!

3. Keto Breakfast Egg Cups

The keto diet has been all the rage in recent years. And, many keto meals such as these keto breakfast egg muffins are amazing for weight loss.

The keto diet is very high fat and very low carb. It’s meant to induce ketosis, which is when your body burns its fat reserves for energy instead of carbs. As a result, you lose excess body fat.

And, not only are keto meals like these egg muffins great for weight loss, but they’re also simple, delicious, and great for meal prepping!

4. Acai Smoothie Bowls

Acai berries are loaded with antioxidants. Not only do antioxidant-rich foods help you lose weight, but they’re also amazing for the immune system and glowing skin.

Here’s a basic acai smoothie recipe:

  • – 3/4 cup coconut yogurt
  • – 1 packet frozen acai berries
  • – 1/2 cup frozen blueberries
  • – 1/2 frozen banana
  • – 1/4 cup coconut water

From there, you can add whatever healthy toppings you want. Nuts, shredded coconut, and granola are just a few. Have fun with it!

5. Bone Broth-Based Soups

Soups in general are great for weight loss. The high water contents help you stay hydrated. And, hydration is essential for weight loss.

But, an even better way to lose weight with soup is to make it with bone broth. Bone broth is like traditional chicken broth except it’s made by boiling the vitamins and minerals out of animal bones.

Not only is bone broth very hydrating, but it’s also high in protein. Diets high in protein have a direct link to weight loss.

If you’re new to bone broth, here are some of my favorite homemade recipes!

6. Baked or Grilled Salmon

Salmon is one of the best meals to eat for weight loss. It helps you lose weight in several ways including:

  • – Building lean body muscle
  • – Preventing belly fat buildup
  • – Lowering blood pressure

Each of these benefits leads to faster weight loss and overall better wellness.

My favorite way to eat salmon is grilled with a side of this mango salsa.

7. Mediterranean Quinoa Salad

Quinoa is a seed that originates from South America and has been cultivated for thousands of years. In fact, the ancient Incas used to harvest and eat quinoa before going into battles because of the energy boost that it gave them.

While you probably won’t eat quinoa for those same reasons, you can eat quinoa for its amazing weight loss properties. Some of those include their high levels of amino acids and antioxidants.

My personal favorite way to eat quinoa for weight loss is this Mediterranean inspired quinoa salad.

8. Whole Grain Avocado Toast

Like salmon, avocados are high in mono and polyunsaturated fats. These fats increase your resting metabolism so body fat burning lasts all day. Other benefits of the fats in avocados include:

  • – Helping absorb nutrients from other foods
  • – Lowering cholesterol
  • – Preventing inflammatory diseases

One of the best ways to eat avocados is on whole grain toast. It’s great for breakfast, a snack, lunch, or even dinner. I personally love to top mine with tomato, lemon, and nutritional yeast.

9. Middle Eastern Inspired Falafel

Falafel is made of ground-up chickpeas and fava beans, two popular legumes. Legumes are very high in fiber. Fiber is an essential dietary element for weight loss.

Fiber helps you stay fuller for longer after eating. And, fiber promotes optimal levels of healthy bacteria in your gut. When at their ideal level, these healthy bacteria help with weight loss.

I personally bake falafel following this recipe. Then, I dip the falafel in another one of my favorite healthy foods – hummus!

10. Dark Chocolate Peanut Butter Cups

You may be wondering how a dessert food like dark chocolate could make it on this list. But, I’m here to tell you that dark chocolate is a powerful weight loss stimulant!

Dark chocolate helps you lose weight by improving insulin sensitivity. It reduces the amount of insulin in your blood which then decreases body fat storage.

Like all things though, too much of a good thing is a bad thing! With that said, just make sure to stick to just a single serving of dark chocolate at a time.

Here’s my favorite dark chocolate peanut butter cup recipe for weight loss!
